Every order you place helps fund ocean cleanup. 20% of all profits go directly to The Ocean Cleanup, an organization that has pulled millions of pounds of plastic from oceans, rivers, and coastlines around the world.

Why this matters to me: a huge amount of acrylic yarn is made from petroleum-based plastics. Every time acrylic yarn is washed, it sheds tiny plastic fibers — microplastics — that flow down the drain, through wastewater treatment, and straight into rivers and oceans. A single load of acrylic laundry can release hundreds of thousands of microfibers. Marine life eats them, and they end up working their way back into our food and water.

That's why I don't use acrylic yarn. Every piece in this shop is made from natural or low-shed fibers, so your cuddly friend won't be quietly polluting the ocean for decades. Buying from Crochet Currents means cleaner water for fish, turtles, and us.
